Corbion gets organic certification for vinegar plant

The move is said to enhance Corbion's ability to manage production and increases the security of supply for makers of organic foods.

"In the age of the Internet and social media, consumers are focused like never before on what's in the foods they eat, whether they are safe and healthy, and how they impact the planet," said Ruud Peerbooms, Senior Vice President, Food Ingredient Solutions at Corbion. "Organic options are an important part of the food industry's future, and we want to make sure our customers can count on us to help them meet that demand."

Corbion says its broad portfolio of sustainable and clean-label solutions leverages its expertise in natural fermentation processes and applying them solve some of the food industry's most pressing challenges, such as reducing food waste and increasing safety in the global food supply.

In the 2017 Market LOHAS (Lifestyle Of Health And Sustainability) Health & Natural Consumer Survey Study, consumers cited health and the environment as the top two motivations for purchasing organic foods. According to Nielsen Homescan household projected data, U.S. organic food sales grew nearly 9% in 2018 to more than $21 billion.
