Bunge Netherlands B.V. and Bunge France SAS have announced the successful completion of the acquisition of two crushing facilities from Cargill, following the approval and closing of the transaction.

The soybean and rapeseed crush and soybean oil refining facility in the Port of Amsterdam in the Netherlands and part of the bulk port terminal assets have now transferred to Bunge, together with the soybean and rapeseed crush facility located in the Port of Brest, France.

The two sites and their personnel are now an integral part of Bunge’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) regional operations and global soy crush platform. The aggregate annual processing capacity at the two locations is approximately two million tons. The acquisition marks the expansion of Bunge’s global oilseed processing footprint into key Northern European destinations and will allow Bunge to optimize global flows and logistics.

“The Amsterdam crush plant will provide a great entry into the Dutch and North West European markets as it has access to major rivers and is located in a deep sea port. This will give us the opportunity to use the existing Bunge network of commodity flows and use the Amsterdam facility to import different Agricultural commodities. Bunge in France operates a successful protein distribution business from Saint-Nazaire selling imported soybean meal, softseed meals and serving also as a marketer for soymeal from our Bilbao crush.”
